Dezzy
Dezzy, the Father Anole
Desdemona was the faithful wife of Othello in the Shakespeare classic "Othello." She married Othello, despite the fact that she was white and he was (for lack of caring about being P.C.) black. This basic, unprejudiced acceptance is what I feel all animals have within themselves, as did humans, before they, as Don Marquis once wrote, "became too civilized." However, due to the fact our "Desdemona" turned out to be the DOMINANT male, we shall call him Dezzy. Do we decend upon him the name Dezzy, and the role of the First Male and the Father of many.
Desdemona has a Greek orgin. The meaning from this orgin is "of the devil". Dezzy is probably unknown as a name, but is a wonderful nickname. We got Dezzy on a certian day back at a certain time, the same time we got Cammy. If you want to know this time go find it in the journal or on Cammy's page, because i don't remember dates well. When we got Dezzy, he was young and small, although older than Cammy. He was the first to shed his skin, and the very quick to start showing his dulap, as he now does very often. He is very oftenly showing his dewlap at Cammy. We used to think this was territorial, or came from anger, but we now know that he just wanted to "shag" Cammy. We know that because, hey, they had an egg! The next day, Dezzy showed his dewlap, and they were at it again. Nick got pictures, but he hasn't had the chance to put them up yet. When he does, you know how to go to the photo gallery better than me!
As I said before, Dezzy is the FIRST male. He might stay the only male for quite awhile, because we are hoping they are all girls. We figure Cammy and Dezzy will make enough eggs to repopulate fast enough. Dezzy is also the Dominanat male, which isn't to hard to be when you are the only male. Well I have finally gotten over the shock of finding out my anole was a male, but i'm pretty proud of him. He cares a lot about Cammy, and i really respect that. He's protective of her. Lets just hope he stays with only her. We don't need to many eggs before we get another cage...
Anyway, that is my dedication to my dear Dezzy. I love him a lot, and hope he is happy living with Nick. And i hope he has many wonderful daughters! Here's to you my dear Dezzy.
